Happy Monday my beautiful readers! Today I wanted to share a list that I put together for you. When I first started to write this, the title was "10 things you don't know about me", and as I started to think of ideas, I realized that they were all things that had not always been... Me. In the last few years, I had changed in more ways than I had realized. It's kind of crazy. So, I thought that some of you might be able to relate! Enjoy! :)
1. I have expensive taste but I love to bargain shop
2. I like to glam it up but I love my sweatpants way more
3. My babies are my world now, but I was never thought of myself as a "kid person"
I used to cringe at the sight of a baby in the same restaurant as me. In my younger days, I always thought I would be the girl who would never, ever have her own kids. I thought of myself as more of a future cool aunt.. To teenagers or young adults one day. But I never connected with other people's children. I never knew how to hold other people's babies. I couldn't EVER imagine changing a diaper. Until the day I became a mother. Something profound happened to me. My heart softened and I began to realize that I was born to do this. Everyday my two children teach me gratitude, selflessness, patience, and joy. Sharing my life with my littles is the greatest gift I could have ever imagined for myself. The best, most rewarding things in my life have come from places that were nowhere near my comfort zone, that's for sure.
4. I go out of my way to be nice
5. I don't watch cable TV and I don't read (or buy) gossip magazines anymore
6. I take pride in living a healthy lifestyle and taking care of my body
As a teenager, I remember feeling invincible at times. No amount of alcohol, junk food, cigarettes, or lack of sleep could slow me down. And it was true, for a while. But as time goes on, I have learned a lot more about nutrition, fitness, and living a healthy lifestyle. I enjoy having energy, being fit, and teaching my kids how to do the same. We only get one body.. And one day I just woke up and realized I better start treating mine as such. Instead of seeing this as a chore, I take pride in my body. Because the more I take care of it, the more I get out of it.
7. I enjoy having a clean home
8. I value my alone time.
I always thought being surrounded by friends and being bombarded with text messages was a normal way of life. A life I wanted at one point. But as I'm getting older, my circle gets smaller and smaller, and I look forward to having quiet, alone time with a warm cup of tea and a good book. It is so easy to get wrapped up in the bustle of everyday life, but when I take small chunks of time to relax and be by myself, I find that I am much calmer (and patient too.)
9. I don't speed while driving anymore. Like, ever.
That's right. I NEVER exceed the speed limit. Most car accidents are the result of excess speed and the older I get, the less risks I like. When I got my first car, I remember feeling so free and speeding every chance I could. But the reality is, it isn't worth it. Even if I am running late, it's not worth risking my life or my family's life to speed.
10. I am who I am and I don't apologize for it.
When you're young is it so easy to feel like you need to conform, to look or act a certain way. But as the years go by, I find myself caring less and less, about what other people think bout me. I put myself out there, without fear of being rejected.. I wear outfits that I like without seeking approval of others first. I work to stay as true to myself, every single day, as I can.
